AI IC now supports custom investment personas
What's new
The AI Investment Committee now supports custom personas alongside the six built-in perspectives.
You can now configure perspectives that reflect your fund's specific lens — a sector specialist, a portfolio construction advisor, an ESG screen, or any analytical frame you apply consistently to deals.
How it works
In Thesis → IC Configuration, you'll see the default six perspectives plus a new Custom Perspectives section.
To add a custom perspective:
- Give it a name (e.g., "Climate Risk" or "Operator Network")
- Write a prompt that defines what this perspective should evaluate and how
- Set whether it runs on all deals or only specific categories
- Optionally set a weight for how it contributes to the IC summary
Custom perspectives run alongside the default six. Their output appears in the IC transcript in its own section.
Why we built this
Different funds apply different analytical lenses. A sector-focused fund needs its sector perspective in every IC session. A manager with a network-driven strategy needs the IC to evaluate founder-to-network fit explicitly.
The default six perspectives cover the general case well. But systematic investing means applying your specific thesis consistently — and your IC should reflect your thesis, not a generic one.
Tips for writing effective custom perspectives
The prompt you write determines the quality of the perspective's output. A few principles that work well:
Be specific about what to evaluate. "Evaluate the competitive moat" is too broad. "Evaluate whether the company has a defensible distribution advantage that competitors cannot replicate within 18 months, and cite specific evidence from the memo that supports or contradicts this" produces a useful IC contribution.
Anchor to your thesis. If your fund thesis includes a specific thesis criteria — geography, check size, stage, sector — your custom perspective should explicitly reference it. The IC output will be more useful when it's evaluating the deal against your actual investment thesis, not a generic framework.
Set a consistent weight. If your custom perspective is a core part of your investment process — not a nice-to-have — give it a weight that reflects that. Perspectives weighted too low get treated as secondary by the IC summary, even if they identify material issues.
